Pellet Heating Running Cost Calculator
Enter your annual heat demand and the fuel prices and system efficiencies that apply to you, then press Calculate. The tool works out an estimated annual running cost range for a pellet system compared with mains gas, heating oil and an air source heat pump. Every figure below is an assumption you can change: replace the starting prices with the numbers from your own bills for a result that means something for your home.

How this is calculated
For each heating system, the tool divides your annual heat demand by that system's efficiency (or, for the heat pump, by its SCOP) to get the amount of fuel or electricity actually needed. It then multiplies that by the fuel price you entered to get an annual cost in pounds. The low and high figures are that central cost minus and plus the variation percentage you set, not a statistical forecast: they simply show how much the answer moves if your real prices or real efficiency differ a little from what you typed in.
This is an arithmetic comparison tool, not a quotation. It cannot know your actual fuel contract, your property's heat losses in a cold winter, or how a particular stove or heat pump performs in your home. Use it to compare systems on a like-for-like basis, then get quotes and real bills to check the figures before you decide.
